Dotty’s, a popular chain of neighborhood slot-machine parlors and taverns, has filed permits with the City of Las Vegas to open a location in the Red Feather Shopping Center at 2202 West Charleston Blvd., Suite 12.
According to the City of Las Vegas permits, Nevada Restaurant Services Inc., parent company of the Dotty’s chain of taverns, has filed for multiple licenses, including full alcohol on-premises, gaming restricted, food services or cafe, tobacco dealer, and automated teller operator. All of which are trademarks of the booming business.
What Now Las Vegas reached out to Nevada Restaurant Services Inc’s Corportate Controller, Tabitha Smith, to find out more about the exciting new development. Unfortunately, we did not hear back by the time of this publication.
Dotty’s was founded by Craig Estey in Oregon in 1991 after noticing that traditional bars and taverns did not adequately cater to women. Known for its cozy, grandmother-kitchen aesthetic and focus on women aged 35 and older, Estey brought the brand to Nevada in 1995, opening the first Las Vegas location in a shopping center at Tropicana Avenue and Maryland Parkway. The chain expanded rapidly across Nevada, Oregon, Montana, and Illinois, taking advantage of closed local bars during the economic downturn by offering a smoking-friendly environment with prepackaged snacks rather than full kitchens.
Nevada Restaurant Services, bought the historic Hacienda Hotel and Casino near Boulder City, rebranding it as the Hoover Dam Lodge in 2013. The company acquired the River Palms in Laughlin, later renamed Laughlin River Lodge, for $6.75 million, expanding its footprint into full non-restricted traditional resort operations with Dotty’s-branded gaming areas.
There are now approximately 175 to over 200 Dotty’s slot machine and tavern locations operating across Nevada, Oregon, and Montana, with additional expansions planned or operating in Illinois. Nevada features the largest concentration, with historical counts showing upwards of 120 statewide locations.
Dotty’s is anticipated to open in the Red Feather Shopping Center at 2202 West Charleston Blvd., Suite 12.
