From the Stockyard food truck to multiple locations, one entrepreneur is capitalizing on his success.
The Host concept is coming to a new location this year, this time at 2937 E Grand Boulevard in New Center. It joins the many other restaurants in this developing neighborhood north of downtown. Owner Michael Ivkov told What Now Detroit the opening date will be sometime in the first quarter of 2027.
Host first debuted in Utica in fall 2022 as a restaurant and co-working space. It is known for serving an eclectic brunch and dinner menu, and following this success the team opened a more intimate space in Romeo. This is set to be the team’s largest location.
“Detroit has always been an important part of the story we’re building with Host, and opening our third location in the city where I first launched the Stockyard food truck and pop up dinner series with a high school buddy over a decade ago, feels like a full circle moment and a really exciting next chapter,” Ivkov said in a press release.
The space under construction is 4,000 square feet, serving coffee and brunch service in the morning, along with lunch, dinner and cocktails. The brunch menu will be “seasonally driven” with similar options like handhelds and salads. The team makes the menus at each location uniquely different.
The Chroma Building sits at the intersection of E Grand Boulevard and Beaubien, across from Freya and Oak & Reel. This is close to historic structures like the Fisher Building and Cadillac Place. The Grand Boulevard light rail station is a short walk from the building.
