The retailer that was popular with families in the 90s and 2000s is popping up again.
Toys R Us is making a comeback in multiple markets including around the Great Lakes State this year. The new stores are reportedly coming to four Michigan malls in the Southeast, central and western parts of the state. The locations are expected to open sometime around the holidays.
The addresses for the new locations are as follows:
- Briarwood Mall: 100 Briarwood Circle, Ann Arbor
- Meridian Mall: 1982 W Grand River Avenue, Okemos
- Tanger Outlets: 350 84th Street SW, Byron Center
- Woodland Mall: 3195 28th Street SE, Grand Rapids
Toys R Us had to file for chapter 11 bankruptcy protection in 2017 due to debt issues and competition. After WHP Global took over the brand, the retailer was able to bounce back financially, and by 2023 new stores began to open again. More locations are popping up around the country in markets including Chicago, California, Iowa and New York.
The chain offers an array of toy options for children who are infants to teenagers. Action figures, bath toys, arts and crafts, LEGOs, electronics, puzzles and Nerf blasters are just a few of the many items to be found at locations around the country. Right now, there are around 40 stores open around the U.S.
As it gets closer to the opening dates, the Toys R Us team will be working with local malls to provide more accurate opening dates.
