A beloved, family-owned restaurant born in Miami is continuing its expansion across New York City.

Motek, backed by powerhouse Happy Corner Hospitality Group, will open its newest location on the Upper West Side at 2178 Broadway next year, New York Post reported.

The restaurant’s growing New York presence includes locations in the West Village, Flatiron and 57th Street, with another outpost also planned for Williamsburg, Brooklyn.

Motek, which means “sweetheart” in Hebrew, offers guests an immersive dining experience inspired by the flavors and culture of the Eastern Mediterranean.

Diners can stop by for brunch, lunch or dinner and enjoy an elevated yet approachable kosher-style menu.

Standout dishes include shakshuka with eggs, tahini and spicy tomatoes; lemon-baked branzino with artichokes, fennel, potatoes, tomatoes, capers and herb butter; and a Wagyu burger topped with charred onions and pomegranate oil.

“From special occasions to casual meals, our goal is to offer a dining experience that brings together great food, great company, and a sense of community,” the website reads.

Charlie Levy and his wife, Tessa, launched Motek in downtown Miami in 2020.

Since then, the brand has expanded to nine locations across South Florida and three in New York City. The couple also operates Sesame Bakery, a Mediterranean-inspired concept in North Miami, and Yalla Motek, the brand’s fast-casual counterpart.

Yalla Motek, which currently operates one location in Aventura, is following a similar expansion path, with two New York City outposts planned for 366 Madison Ave. and 1147 Broadway.

Its name, which translates to “come on, hurry up” in Hebrew, reflects the concept’s focus on bringing Motek’s signature flavors to guests on the go.

Levy described Miami as the “sixth borough of New York” in a statement, calling the hospitality group’s presence in both markets a “natural step.”
