Hines’ evolution of Atlantic Station is nearing its latest milestone.
Plans were recently submitted to the City of Atlanta to begin construction on the new standalone restaurant building that will house HobNob.
The two-story, 9,593-square-foot jewel box will be built from the ground up where Strip was once situated.
Demolition of the Strip building is currently around 75 percent complete, according to a project representative.
It is expected to be completely demoed by the end of March.
Vertical construction on the HobNob building will begin immediately afterward.
Constructing the building’s shell is expected to cost north of $2,000,000, according to a permit recently submitted to City of Atlanta for the project.
That figure does not include HobNob’s buildout.
The neighborhood pub should be open in time for “the holidays,” presumably sometime in November 2019.
It is part of a complete overhaul of Atlantic Station’s Central Park greenspace.
Forever 21, which will face the newly-designed Central Park, is currently under construction nearby.
Tearing down a presumably solid, relatively young structure to build a $2M space? This helps one understand why restaurants fail. I hope that HobNob succeeds as I never wish failure upon a business, but I don’t get why it was necessary to tear down Strip, nor do I get how it’s financially prudent to do so.
