Modern Japanese ramen bar Ken’s Ramen is set to open in Virgil Village this weekend, at 775 N. Virgil Avenue. Aram Pogosian of Industry Partners, the leasing rep for the strip that houses Ken’s Ramen, told What Now Los Angeles that the opening will be Saturday, September 19.
Owner Will Hu, a Los Angeles native, first debuted Ken’s Ramen in 2013 in Providence, Rhode Island. Hu shuttered that location, which once graced the cover of Bon Appetit, in late-2018. It wasn’t until nearly a year later that the Angeleno revealed he would return home and bring the restaurant with him.
Situated adjacent to the planned Courage Bagels (which stills lists its opening as “sometime in 2020”), Ken’s Ramen will kick-off its opening with a focus on takeout and limited outdoor dining. Delivery via the apps will soon follow. As with its original location, Ken’s Ramen will serve rice bowls, pork buns, vegetable sides, and of course, ramen.
The restaurant’s storefront, a three-suite strip, was recently redeveloped, “taking advantage of the prominent storefronts and 20’+ ceilings heights,” according to marketing materials for the property. Suite C, a 1,380-square-foot space, remains available for lease.
