City Barbeque appears to be opening a new location in Kennesaw. It is heading to 1185 Ernest W. Barrett Parkway in Barrett Corners Phase III, according to kennesaw.com. It will take part of the space formerly home to LA Fitness.
The location will join other existing locations in Georgia for City Barbeque, including spots in Johns Creek, Decatur, Snellville, Acworth, McDonough, Woodstock, Sandy Springs and Buford.
City Barbeque, founded by Rick Malir in 1999, has more than 75 locations across Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Michigan, North Carolina, Ohio, South Carolina, Tennessee and Wisconsin.
The spot focuses on BBQ-based fare. Menu items include BBQ sandwiches, smokehouse tacos, chicken, St. Louis ribs, salads and a variety of meats.
While an exact opening timeline for City Barbeque remains unclear, Barrett Corners Phase III will likely open in 2027. Poké House will also open in the development, and the ownership team for that restaurant shared with What Now Atlanta that they are targeting a Q4 of 2027 or Q1 of 2028 opening.
