A makeover is planned for a gelato stand at Ponce City Market.

A renovation and expansion is proposed for Honeysuckle Gelato, according to a building permit application with the City of Atlanta. The food stall would get a new layout, equipment and finish updates. The estimated cost of construction is $100,000, according to the application.

Honeysuckle Gelato is located on the first floor of Ponce City Market, in the Central Food Hall. The shop serves gelato and sorbet in a variety of flavors, including butter pecan praline, key lime pie, lemon raspberry crumble, banana pudding and more. They also serve cookies, gelato floats, slushies and milkshakes.

Longtime friends Wes Jones, Jackson Smith and Khatera Ballard launched Honeysuckle Gelato as a food truck in 2011. The brand now has several locations in Georgia and North Carolina. The stand at Ponce City Market was Honeysuckle Gelato’s first move into brick-and-mortar.
