We tend to underthink popcorn — when we aren’t tossing a bag into the microwave, flagrantly ignoring instructions not to use the machine’s popcorn setting, we’re purchasing it as an afterthought at movies and sports games. But at Indulge Gourmet Popcorn, both the kernels and your tastebuds get the V.I.P treatment.
Three years after opening their flagship location at 177 Peters St., Indulge is treating itself to a well-trafficked location at the Krog Street Market, represented in the leasing transaction by Bill Davis of KW Commercial Atlanta Perimeter. By April or May, Atlantans in Inman Park can conveniently get (or develop, for those uninitiated) their fancy popcorn fix.
“Adding a second location was pertinent to our ability to succeed,” owner Amy Tyler told What Now Atlanta. “We had been looking for a second location for a very long time, and finally — in the middle of the pandemic, of all times — something good came our way. We chose Krog Street Market because we love the neighborhood and it felt like a good fit for us! It seems to be a beloved market with great businesses, we’re excited to become one of them.”
Reading a list of Indulge Gourmet Popcorn’s innovative offerings will have you saying “huh, what a great idea!” over and over — it will also make you hungry. Among their inventive flavors are black cherry cheesecake, lavender rose elixir, rosemary garlic parmesan, Earl Grey vanilla bean cake, blueberry waffles, peach raspberry custard, Sriracha lime and banana pudding. They even carry a varietal with vegan butter!
“We opened our doors in the Summer of 2017, without any popcorn making experience,” wrote Tyler on the popcornery’s website. “Fortunately, it turns out I’m really good at it! So I’m still here – popping, cooking, melting, cooling, mixing, drizzling, coating, sprinkling and concocting to give you something uniquely delicious!”
[Disclosure: Bill Davis is a commercial associate with KW Commercial Atlanta Perimeter, which is one of What Now Atlanta’s preferred partners]
Correction: Jan. 19, 2021 — An earlier version of this article misidentified Indulge Gourmet Popcorn’s owner as “Amy Tan” rather than “Amy Tyler.” What Now Atlanta regrets the error.
Where in Krog Market will this go?
I guess I’m not terribly adventurous, but most of those flavors don’t sound appealing with popcorn.
