Verde Taqueria has permanently shuttered its Wildwood location, at 1193 Collier Road, a source with first-hand knowledge of the closure confirmed with What Now Atlanta (WNA). Owner Pat Kenny did not respond to WNA’s request seeking comment on the decision to close the neighborhood taqueria. Calls to Verde Taqueria went unanswered and messages to the company on social media were not returned Monday.

Verde Taqueria on July 30 closed its Collier Road doors temporarily after one of its employees fell ill with the novel coronavirus, according to a post on the restaurant’s Facebook page. “For the safety of our staff and our patrons, our Collier location will be closed for a few days due to an employee testing positive for COVID-19,” the post stated. “We will keep you updated. Thank you for your continued support!”

The restaurant never reopened but was very proactive in informing its patrons about its ill employee going as far as publishing the team member’s work schedule to assist with contact tracing.

Verde Taqueria at one point had three locations and is now down to a lone Brookhaven outpost, at 1426 Dresden Dr. NE. In 2018 the restaurant closed its Sandy Springs outpost in the Gateway Shopping Center. Barry Mills, a co-founder of FLIP Burger, has since opened Big B’s Fish Joint in place of Verde Taqueria.
