Whole Foods Market To Open Full-Service Midtown Restaurant

Whole Foods Market is planning The Roast, a full-service restaurant with live music, and beer and wine on tap, a company spokesperson confirmed in an email to What Now Atlanta Tuesday.

The restaurant would open “early spring” 2017 in the grocer’s recently-expanded Midtown Place shopping center store, at 650 Ponce De Leon Ave NE.

When the neighboring Staples downsized last year, Whole Foods Market expanded into the office supply store’s space adding nearly 5,000 square feet to its footprint.

The newly-renovated Whole Foods Market includes upgrades like a beer and wine bar, cold brew coffee on tap, self-ordering kiosk and text-to-order capabilities at the juice bar, as well as Octane Coffee and Iwi Fresh.

A four-day “grand reopening celebration” introducing “Whole Foods Market 2.0” will kick-off Thursday, November 3 through Sunday, November 6 (click here for all of the juicy event details.)

The celebration includes live music, DJs, a hog roast, local brewery tap takeovers and commemorative shopping bags for the first 500 customers.

“Phase Three” of the expansion should include building out the new restaurant, The Roast. A permit application was filed with City of Atlanta Monday for the “venue” that would have its own entrance and facade.

An estimated $600,000 could be spent constructing The Roast with the addition of “restrooms, coolers, dish room, service counter, and seating.”

Whole Foods Market repeatedly ignored requests for comment on The Roast.
