The Broad Street corridor of Downtown Athens has been brutalized by the COVID-19 pandemic with more empty storefronts than there have been at any point in the last five years with the departure of many restaurants including Taco Stand, Gyro Wrap (although rumors say it may not be entirely dead) and Cinnaholic, just to name a few.

But the space at 311 E Broad Street — home to Wings Over Athens, Takorea, and Étienne all within the span of five years — has found a new tenant.

Scoville Hot Chicken after a slight refresh, while maintaining a familiar look of its former tenant, opened in the space last week. The Sandy Springs-based restaurant has been serving Nashville-style hot chicken since November of 2020 which speaks magnitudes to the ability of the restaurant to launch and grow in the midst of the pandemic. The restaurant’s official website also hints at future openings in Buckhead, Atlanta as well as in New York City. However, no timeline for those future openings has been provided.

Prices range between $8 – $10 for sandwiches filling a cuisine gap that until now, had only been served by Wing Zone on the east end of Downtown. Scoville Hot Chicken is open from 11:30 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. daily.
