Lammes Candies is Closing All Retail Locations After 141 Years

The well-known Texas candy store chain, Lammes Candies, is a family-run company. The company closed most of its stores in April 2026, marking the end of an era.

Some stores in Austin are still open until stock runs out. Following this, all physical stores will be gone, leaving behind a gap in the industry. Over the years, the company built a legacy that has become a cherished part of Texas confectionery tradition.

What Forced the Decision

While the company built a strong presence in the community, it also pointed to changing market conditions. According to its social media post, ownership evaluated the business’s long-term viability before making the decision. Ultimately, they decided to cease operations at their locations.

The company slowly started to wind down operations, complete remaining orders, and help employees during the transition. Lammes Candies also announced it will produce a final batch of chocolate-covered strawberries for Mother’s Day. It will be available until May 7 at 1 p.m. and in limited quantities. Customers are encouraged to pre-order, and pick-up will be on May 8 and May 9.

The company has dedicated itself to serving exceptional products and outstanding customer service. These qualities made it a beloved brand across the state, creating a legacy that is difficult to replace.
