According to public filings, Munch Munch Waffles and More aims to open its first location in Austin at 170 Alliance Blvd., Suite 100, at Townwest Commons in Hutto. The restaurant offers a brunch-focused menu with comfort food made from scratch, including waffles, chicken biscuit sandwiches, shrimp and grits, and other Southern-inspired dishes.

The 3,010-square-foot location is expected to open in October 2026, pending permits, according to David Hernández, investor and operator of the upcoming Hutto location, who spoke with WhatNow Austin.

The concept was inspired by founders Bakaffa and Crystal Casey’s time living in Italy and traveling through Belgium, including Bakaffa’s time serving in the military. WhatNow Austin reached out to the Caseys, who shared how the restaurant started with the idea of “bringing people together through elevated comfort food, blending Southern flavors with European-inspired waffles and scratch-made brunch dishes that feel both creative and familiar.”

Hernández, who served alongside Bakaffa in Italy, recalled trying Crystal Casey’s homemade cooking years before the business launched. “The moment I tried the chicken, I said, ‘Oh my God, this is the best chicken I’ve ever had,'” he told WhatNow Austin.

The business later evolved into a food truck before expanding into its first brick-and-mortar location in Liberty Hill at 9073 W State Hwy 29, Suite 101, and officially becoming a franchise concept in 2025. The Hutto restaurant will mark the company’s first franchise location.

When asked about expanding, the Caseys told WhatNow Austin that bringing communities together is their main purpose. “We want every location to feel still warm, welcoming, and community-focused, a place where families, friends, and neighbors can gather and create memories over great food.”

Munch Munch Waffles & More is a family-owned, minority-owned, and veteran-owned business centered around scratch-made recipes and Southern-style comfort food. According to Hernández, the team sees strong potential in Hutto’s growing population and evolving dining scene, particularly within the brunch market.
