According to recent public records, Austin’s popular Oz. Tap House (pronounced “ounce”) will soon begin building up a second location in Bee Cave. Set for 12432 FM 2244, the newest location will reportedly be “twice the size” of the original at 2222 Ranch Road. Locals may recognize the upcoming Bee Cave spot as the former home of Rocco’s Grill.

“We’re the first self-pour tap house in Texas,” enthuse Krista and Sean Kanter on a recent phone call with What Now Austin, underscoring a unique approach that has helped earn Oz. its sterling reputation.

“This location will be twice the size as the original,” say the Kanters. “We’ll have two patios–one for family and one for adults.” The family space, they add, will feature playscapes for kids.

Readers familiar with Oz. can expect the same menu (burgers, tacos, salads and other Texan/Southwestern-inspired pub fare), though Mrs. Kanter adds that they may serve pizza “down the road.”

So when can eager readers expect the location to open?

“Probably early summer,” the Kanters project. No exact opening date is planned as of now.
