According to public filings, Sourdough & Co. is planning to open at 4444 SH-6 South in College Station. What Now Austin spoke with franchise owner Sara Sultz, who said the plan is to open before late November 2026. The location was chosen for its visibility and high traffic.
“It’s in a popular area of South College Station, close to H-E-B, and there’s a lot of car traffic and families who shop around there,” Sultz told What Now Austin.
Sourdough & Co. was founded in California by Steve Presson and Gordon Ross in 2014. The brand is known for its fresh sourdough bread, sandwiches, and focus on quality ingredients. Sultz, a pediatrician and also a veteran of the U.S. Air Force, is the franchisee behind the new shop, making the business both woman-owned and veteran-owned.
The idea grew out of a desire to help people outside of medicine. “I was looking for a different way to help people other than just with medicine, and decided healthy food would be a good way to do that,” Sultz told What Now Austin.
When Sara and her husband, also a physician and the franchisee behind the new shop, came across the Sourdough & Co. franchise, its bread and sandwiches stood out to them. The opportunity to mentor employees, many of whom will be high school and college students, and build a stronger sense of community was also an important factor for Sara.
“I love the idea of mentoring the employees… and just continuing to build up our community here in College Station,” Sultz said
About the upcoming opening, Sultz highlighted her excitement. “We can’t wait for everyone to try the food,” Sara said.
This won’t be the only Sourdough & Co. location Sultz brings to the area. “We’ll do at least one other location in the Bryan-College Station area,” she told What Now Austin.
