A family-owned Mediterranean favorite in Watertown is moving to a nearby space.

Halva Mediterranean Grill is set to relocate to 55 Main Street, just a short stroll from its current digs at 39 Mount Auburn Street, confirmed owners Joseph, Sam, and Ali Dag. Once the move is complete, the current Mount Auburn space will be reimagined as a brand-new Mediterranean breakfast concept.

“We’re beyond excited to announce that we’re opening our doors soon,” the team shared on Instagram. “After months of planning, building, and dreaming, our new space is finally in progress… We’re also incredibly grateful for the strong demand and support we’ve already received. Thank you to our amazing customers, your trust and excitement mean everything to us.”

Originally founded in Paterson, New Jersey, Halva blends traditional Mediterranean recipes with modern techniques, aiming to transport diners “to the sun-drenched shores of Turkey and beyond,” according to the eatery’s website.

While the Watertown menu is still being finalized, Joseph told What Now Boston that guests can look forward to many of the same crowd-pleasers, as well as some exciting new dishes. Expect additional options from the brick oven, elevated mocktails, and an expanded selection of appetizers and entrées.

Fan favorites at the current location include the 3 Mezze Sampler, Chicken Shish Wrap, Homestyle Walnut Baklava, and the Adana Kebab entrée, a mildly spicy mix of ground beef and lamb served with rice and grilled vegetables. The menu also caters to a range of diets, with gluten-free, vegan, and vegetarian options available.

The new Main Street location is expected to open in three to five months, pending permits and renovations. Until then, diners can still visit Halva Mediterranean Grill at its Mount Auburn home, which remains open during the transition.

“Stay tuned for updates, behind-the-scenes progress, and our official opening date,” the team added. “We can’t wait to welcome you.”
