A fast-growing local bakery is preparing to bring fresh croissants, coffee, and cake to one of downtown Boston‘s most anticipated new destinations.
Lakon Paris Patisserie has announced plans to open a 1,500-square-foot café adjoining Harvard Book Store’s forthcoming location at 33 Union Street. Situated just steps from Faneuil Hall and Quincy Market, the new outpost will mark Lakon’s fifth Greater Boston location.
The bakery was founded in Newton Highlands in 2020 by husband-and-wife team Vichaya (Jenny) Kiangkaew and Urupong (Kope) Kharuharat. In the years since, Lakon Paris Patisserie has expanded beyond its original neighborhood storefront, adding locations in Brookline, Brighton, and the Seaport District.
The bakery has become known for its sweet and savory croissants—including its signature cube croissant—as well as monkey bread, morning buns, brioche cinnamon rolls, artisan breads, and an assortment of intricately decorated cakes. Coffee and tea beverages are also available.
Harvard Book Store’s new 3,500-square-foot store will occupy the historic Yankee Publishing Building in Boston’s Blackstone Block. The downtown location will feature a dedicated children’s area inspired by local history and expanded event programming, along with the adjoining café operated by Lakon.
Together, the bookstore and bakery will create a destination where visitors can browse the shelves, attend events, and enjoy coffee and pastries in one of Boston’s most historic neighborhoods.
Construction is currently underway, and both the bakery and bookstore are expected to open in the fall of 2026. What Now Boston has reached out to the Lakon Paris Patisserie team for additional details, so keep an eye out for updates.
