A Somerville-based donut shop is expanding to the South Shore.
Union Square Donuts is preparing to open its ninth location at 94 Derby St in Hingham‘s Derby Street Shops, according to a press release. Slated to open this summer, the new shop will join a recently launched Lynnfield location, as well as several existing outposts throughout Greater Boston.
Family-owned and founded in 2012, Union Square Donuts is celebrated for its award-winning donuts and carefully crafted coffee menu. Each donut is made from scratch daily using real ingredients, and every glaze, jam, and topping is created in-house.
“We’ve always focused on doing things the right way—making everything from scratch and not cutting corners,” said Josh Danoff, who co-founded the brand alongside his brother Noah Danoff and pastry chef Heather Schmidt. “Bringing that to Derby Street is an exciting next step for us.”
At the new location, guests can expect a rotating mix of creative donuts and fan-favorite classics, including signature flavors like Brown Butter Hazelnut Crunch, Honey Glazed, Sea Salt Bourbon Caramel, and Boston Cream. The Hingham shop will also feature limited-time offerings, exclusive Derby Street flavors, and a variety of vegan options.
Beyond donuts, the upcoming eatery will offer a full coffee program complete with espresso drinks, matcha specialties, and seasonal sips like hot mulled apple cider during the fall months.
“This is about reaching a new community without changing who we are,” shared Noah. “Same product, same standards—just a new place to experience it.”
Additional details, including grand opening plans and exclusive Derby Street offerings, are expected to be announced in the coming months. In the meantime, fans can follow @unionsquaredonuts on social media or stop by one of the brand’s existing locations.
Located in the seaside town of Hingham, Derby Street Shops is home to a collection of more than 60 shopping and dining establishments such as Whole Foods Market, Apple, Polkadog Bakery, The Paper Store, Sephora, Shake Shack, and Pottery Barn.
