A famous Buffalo, New York franchise is putting down roots in the Palmetto State next spring.
Anchor Bar prides itself on being the “home of the original buffalo wing.” Over the years, it has accumulated many awards for its ‘Frank & Theresa’s Original’ buffalo sauce, from James Beard to the National Buffalo Wing Hall of Flame, to which it was the inaugural honoree.
Despite its renown, the company has grown slowly since its claim to fame in 1964. Today, the chain has thirteen locations across six states. That number is set to grow next year with the addition of a Myrtle Beach restaurant.
Franchisee Robert Kroon, a New York native with ties to Surfside Beach, SC, is confirmed to be bringing the first Anchor Bar location to the lowcountry at 6401 N Kings Hwy. The 8,000-square-foot former Mr. Fish seafood restaurant was listed for $1.2 million in August of this year and purchased in September, with Samuel Hartley of Resolut RE and Justin Ross of Lee & Associates Charleston facilitating the deal.
An official opening date of the Myrtle Beach Anchor Bar has not been announced, but a source tells What Now Charleston they’re aiming for Spring 2024.
