A new American tavern is set to grace 601 Meeting St Suite 140 in North Central Charleston. The Archer will occupy the ground floor of the Meeting Street Lofts, taking over the 2,000-square-foot space once inhabited by Gale Restaurant.

Owned by Elizabeth and Marc Hudacsko, who also helm the nearby Berkeley’s restaurant, The Archer aims to offer a blend of “classy cocktails, badass tunes, and genuine hospitality,” as noted on the eatery’s Instagram page. While sharing similarities with Berkeley’s, The Archer will present a more refined dining experience.

According to The Post and Courier, the Hudacskos have enlisted former Three Sirens and Butcher & Bee chef Paul Farmer to craft dishes that evoke feelings of nostalgia while also pushing culinary boundaries. Anticipate a menu that balances familiar flavors with inventive flair, ranging from classic favorites like burgers to more adventurous creations such as truffle and foie gras doughnut holes.

The wood-fired oven, a legacy of Gale, will play a central role in Farmer’s culinary vision, transforming proteins and vegetables into enticing offerings that reflect The Archer’s unique identity.

Under the guidance of Jimmy Chmielewski, known for his work at Proof and Estadio, The Archer’s cocktail program promises a fusion of classic and contemporary. Patrons can indulge in a variety of libations, ranging from traditional beer, wine, and cocktails to trendier beverages like espresso martinis.

The Hudacskos are eyeing a mid-summer opening for The Archer, where dinner will be served from 4 to 11 p.m., with refreshments flowing until midnight. Additionally, brunch will be offered on Saturdays and Sundays to cater to the weekend crowd.
