A Mount Pleasant bistro and bar that opened at 1710 Shoremeade Rd #450 early last year will soon close its doors, making way for a new concept by the same group.

According to a Facebook update from the establishment, Sommba Bistro + Bar will cease operations after dinner service on Saturday, September 7th, 2024.

“We’ve learned a great deal over the past two years, and we plan to use this knowledge to shape the future,” reads the post. “We look forward to sharing some exciting announcements in the coming months about the spaces Sommba currently occupies, so please stay tuned!”

Sommba is known for its unique fusion of New American and Mediterranean cuisine, offering flavorful tapas like wild mushroom empanadas and chicken lollipops, alongside an award-winning wine list and creative craft cocktails.

Owners Ty Raju and Karen Mennuti-Raju of BENE Hospitality Group—the parent company behind Sommba, SAVI Cucina + Wine Bar, and Woodhaven Pizza—told What Now Charleston that they are not yet ready to reveal details about the new concept but said they would share more information in a couple of weeks.

Keep an eye out for updates on the forthcoming concept.
