Fast-Casual Chain Continuing Charlotte Expansion

Panda Express has multiple locations in the pipeline for the market.

Panda Express has another location in the works for the Charlotte market. 

Smithfield Chicken ‘N Bar-B-Q just closed at 5121 Trojan Drive and sold the building to Panda Express, according to the Charlotte Observer.

What Now Charlotte connected with a spokesperson for Panda Express, who shared that the project is still in the early stages of development but the restaurant chain is targeting a summer 2026 opening for the site. 

Panda Express has been making inroads into the Charlotte market recently, with two locations planned along Albemarle Road that are expected to open in the next couple years, as previously reported by What Now Charlotte.

The fast-casual chain currently has locations in Charlotte, Concord, Huntersville, Kannapolis and Rock Hill.

Panda Express has more than 2,000 locations across the country, with nearly 30 spots in North Carolina. It is known for its fast-casual meals that blend Chinese, Asian and American flavors.
