Deepwell, a new steakhouse concept from Joe and Katy Kindred, is planned for 185 N. Main St. in downtown Mooresville, according to a recent report from the Charlotte Business Journal and the restaurant’s website.
The New Orleans-inspired concept is being developed alongside Kindred Restaurants corporate chef Craig Deihl, who will serve as executive chef and co-owner.
According to the Charlotte Business Journal, Deepwell is expected to open in late summer or fall 2026. Plans call for an in-house dry-aging program, with Wagyu beef sourced from North Carolina-based W8 Ranch.
The restaurant will occupy a historic Main Street building and joins a growing portfolio from the Kindreds that includes Kindred, Hello, Sailor, Milkbread and Albertine.
The announcement comes as Kindred, the couple’s flagship Davidson restaurant, undergoes repairs following a small fire and resulting water damage. The Charlotte Business Journal reports the restaurant is expected to reopen in roughly 12 weeks, around the same timeframe Deepwell is anticipated to welcome its first guests.
While full menu details have not yet been released, the restaurant’s website describes Deepwell as a gathering place in downtown Mooresville and confirms dinner service is planned. Reservations are expected to become available closer to opening. WhatNow Charlotte has reached out to the ownership team and will provide updates as more information becomes available.
