The Eighth Rule, a bourbon-forward cocktail lounge created by NBA star Stephen Curry in partnership with The MINA Group, is planned for The Ritz-Carlton, Charlotte at 201 E. Trade St., according to a recent report from The Charlotte Observer.
The concept is expected to open in late winter 2026 as part of the hotel’s ongoing renovation project. The Eighth Rule will join Bourbon Steak, chef Michael Mina’s acclaimed steakhouse concept, and Sweet July Café, a concept tied to Ayesha Curry’s lifestyle brand.
The Charlotte location would mark The Eighth Rule’s second location, which currently operates inside The Westin St. Francis in San Francisco. Stephen Curry created the concept in partnership with Chef Michael Mina and The MINA Group.
According to The MINA Group’s website, The Eighth Rule is designed as an intimate gathering space centered around bourbon, cocktails and conversation. The concept takes its name from the seven official rules of bourbon production, inviting guests to create their own “eighth rule” through shared experiences and memorable moments.
The Charlotte opening is part of a broader collaboration between Stephen Curry, Ayesha Curry and Michael Mina. In addition to The Eighth Rule, the partnership includes Bourbon Steak and Sweet July Café, both of which are also planned for The Ritz-Carlton, Charlotte as part of the property’s ongoing transformation.
WhatNow Charlotte has reached out for additional details regarding The Eighth Rule and will provide updates as more information becomes available.
