2nd & Charles is coming to Carolina Pavilion at 9567 South Boulevard in Charlotte, taking part of the former Conn’s HomePlus space. Scott Kappler, Executive Vice President of operations for Books-A-Million, the parent company of 2nd & Charles, confirmed the location to WhatNow Charlotte, and said the store is targeting an early spring 2027 opening.
According to CBJ Newsroom’s Instagram post, Carolina Pavilion is reworking the former Conn’s HomePlus space as part of an effort to strengthen the shopping center’s tenant mix. According to Kappler, this new location will be 21,000 square feet and will employ roughly 30 associates.
According to Kappler the more than 21,000-square-foot retail complex is adapting its anchor space to meet retailer demand and improve its overall merchandising strategy, and will employ roughly 30 associates.
“2nd & Charles is a true treasure hunt,” Kappler told WhatNow Charlotte. “We buy, sell and trade used books, video games and systems, vinyl records, CDs, movies, comics, toys and collectibles, alongside a curated selection of new merchandise. Customers can bring in items they would like to sell or trade and walk out with cash or store credit, so the store is always changing and there’s something new every visit. That trade model keeps prices affordable, gives great items a second life, and creates a store that feels different every time you walk in. It’s a place for readers, gamers, collectors and families to spend an afternoon.”
For Carolina Pavilion, the lease is part of a broader effort to make better use of the former anchor space, as reported by CBJ Newsroom. Kappler told WhatNow Charlotte that he will procide us with opening updates as soon as they become available.
