Bull City Burger & Brewery is preparing to bring its Durham burger concept to a new neighborhood, with Bull City Burger Outpost #1 scheduled to open at Latta Park in North Durham during the first quarter of 2027. The expansion marks the restaurant’s first move beyond its downtown location since opening in 2011, The News & Observer reported.

Owner Seth Gross said North Durham residents have asked for years to have the restaurant’s burgers closer to home. In a news release cited by The News & Observer, Gross described the new Outpost as a place where families can gather for a meal, enjoy the patio and let children play in an outdoor area.

The original restaurant on Parrish Street has built its menu around grass-fed burgers and duck fat fries, with most food prepared in-house. The business also brews beer at its downtown location, supplying the restaurant and some Durham bottle shops, according to the publication.

The North Durham restaurant will carry the brand’s burger-and-fries approach into a different setting while introducing additional choices for morning visits. The News & Observer reported that the menu will include biscuit sandwiches, alongside beverages served from a dedicated coffee bar.

At approximately 2,700 square feet, the Outpost is planned to have 65 dining-room seats and 12 additional seats at the bar. Gross is also incorporating a turf play area and an outdoor patio, extending the restaurant’s appeal to families looking for a casual place to spend time together, the newspaper reported.

The restaurant will join Latta Park, a North Durham development anchored by Publix that also includes a Chipotle. Austin Williams, a partner at developer Crosland Southeast, welcomed Bull City Burger Outpost to the project’s retail mix, saying established local businesses can add value for people who live, work and visit the development, according to The News & Observer.

The first-quarter 2027 opening target will give Bull City Burger & Brewery a presence outside downtown Durham for the first time, while broadening its offering with breakfast and coffee service.
