A BJ”s Restaurant and Brewhouse is not the only dining spot in the works for the city.
Angelita’s is under construction at 16301 Boulevard Place on the west side of Joliet. The concept is owned by two brothers and will serve authentic Mexican dishes for the city. Co-owner Enrique Melendez told What Now Chicago that right now the team is hoping to open in a few weeks.
“Angelita’s Mexican Bar & Cuisine is a vibrant, family-owned restaurant bringing the bold, authentic flavors of Mexico to your table. Inspired by recipes passed down through generations, every dish celebrates the rich culinary traditions,” says the description on their Facebook page.
While a menu has not been released, Mexican classics like tacos and fajitas can be expected. As it is also a bar, the spot will likely serve beer and cocktails as well. It is being kept under wraps until closer to the opening.
The restaurant is coming to the east side of Boulevard Place, close to the Costco off Plainfield Road. This area is surrounded by chains including Panda Express, Olive Garden and LongHorn Steakhouse. The area is a short drive west of downtown Joliet.
From the latest post on their social media, interior work is being done on the walls and the kitchen. More progress and the official opening date will be posted to their Facebook page soon.
