According to a recent job posting, Omakase Box aims to debut in Logan Square at 3038 W Armitage Avenue.

“I’m aiming to open sometime in the late spring or summer. I’m really hoping for May or June, but it will depend on a few factors. For food, it will essentially be reminiscent of Jinsei Motto, where we will be focusing on staples and offering them at a great price point,” owner Andrew Choi told What Now Chicago.

“We will offer 15-16 pieces of omakase at the sushi bar for under 100 dollars, and a 10-piece option for under $50. The food will be really high quality, that we are known for. To supplement nigiri, we will have hand rolls. We are really focusing on our goal of wanting to be fair to the community with pricing.”

“We wanted to come in, be accessible, be really fun, and really support the community. Our decor is going for a timeless feel; We want it to feel like if you were walking into a shop in Japan. It will be very wood focused, almost like a Scandinavian wood feel. It will be clean and classic, pretty, nothing over the top but well thought out.”

“Drinks won’t be super complicated. There will be Japanese whiskey, a small cocktail and wine program, etc. Our main focus will be the food, omakase and nigiri, and everything else supports that. We’re going to keep everything lighthearted and fun, and provide great service but not in a pretentious way.”

“When I first started thinking about Omakase Box as a whole, initially I had wanted it to be a to-go program, but when I started touring locations, I fell in love with it. I felt like it would be a shame not to turn into a sit-down restaurant.”

“I like good food and feel like sushi should be accessible. Realistically, it isn’t as expensive as people make it out to be. There’s a certain unspoken standard in the industry for pricing, but when doing our business plan I realized that I could put something out that nobody really has yet. It’s for the people, people like me, “everyday people.”
