Changes are coming to a storefront in the center of Southport Corridor.

It is being reported Southport Grocery and Cafe is closing after their long run at 3552 N Southport Avenue, and is to be followed by Dollop Finer Diner. Dollop already operates in the Andersonville area, and the owners have been seeking expansion. An opening date has not yet been set, but it will debut after the grocery store and cafe closes at the end of the year.

The Southport business first opened in 2003, and quickly became a favorite spot for locals to get a coffee or quick breakfast. After almost 23 years of service, owner Lisa Santos decided to close her beloved business. She is also the owner behind the new Dollop Finer Diner in place of it.

For the new diner, guests can expect many of the same items at the Andersonville location, including sandwiches, pancakes, waffles, soups and salads. New menu items have not yet been announced.

The storefront is at the intersection of W Addison Street, next to a lululemon and across from D’Agostino’s Pizza and Pub. This is right in the center of the busy Southport Corridor, and about equal distance from the Addison CTA Brown Line and Red Line stops. Wrigley Field is a short walk east of the building.
