Following the success of her pop-up, owner Melanie McElroy has found a permanent space to set up shop.
Melway is a new burger restaurant coming to 10335 Joseph Campau Avenue in Hamtramck. Along with the burger spot, the space is going to be a butcher shop, cafe and bakery for the area. The opening date will reportedly be sometime in 2027.
McElroy has been serving burgers for Metro Detroit since 2023, popping up at locations such as Urbanfest Brewing Co in Ferndale and Down in The Alley in the Cass Corridor neighborhood.
“We mix white-tile nostalgia with 100% grass-fed beef that we buy from my dad’s eco-regenerative cattle ranch in Michigan to make one of Detroit’s favorite smashburgers.,” says a post from Melway Burgers.
No official menu has been posted, but in the past the team has served smashburgers with fries, with sizes ranging from one patty to three. Hot dogs and bowls with chips have also been served, along with desserts like brownies.
The concept will serve patties at the southwest corner of the Caniff-Joseph Campau avenues intersection. U.S. Fish & Chicken is also next to the building, and this is across the street from Joy Thrift. This is on the north side of Hamtramck.
What Now Detroit is awaiting comment from McElroy on the new location. As it gets closer to the opening, she will be releasing more information about the new burger spot.
