Something new and original is on the way to Grosse Pointe Park.
Angelos’ Fine Italian is the newest concept coming to the city’s downtown district at 16844 Kercheval Avenue. The space was formerly City Kitchen, a popular neighborhood restaurant and bar serving steak and cocktails. Owner Cory Barberio told What Now Detroit he is hoping to open sometime after Labor Day or towards the end of September.
Barberio was named executive chef of Shinola Hotel in 2023. He also currenlty carries this title at San Morello, also downtown. There, he prepares menu items like original pastas, wood-fired pizzas and entrees like shrimp scampi.
For his new project, Barberio will be introducing more Italian specialties like piccatas and marcellas. He is not releasing a menu until it gets closer to the opening, but he said it is being crafted with “more thoughtfulness and intention.”
“It’s going to be a lot of classic preparations,” Barberio said.
Angelo’s is opening near the intersection of Cadieux Road, close to Einstein Bros. Bagels. Cold Stone Creamery is right across the street, and Village Grille is a couple storefronts down. This is on the east side of Grosse Pointe Park.
As it gets closer to the official opening date, be sure to visit their website for more updates.
