Designed bags and even Detroit Tigers-themed merchandise will be sold at a storefront downtown.
The owner of Vilah Bloom are making their Motor City debut this year at 1435 Farmer Street in Parker’s Alley. It follows the success of their locations in Walloon Lake and Traverse City. Owner Jackie Garrett told What Now Detroit the team is hoping to open around Memorial Day weekend, with plans to open a franchise opportunity in the future.
Garrett started the business 16 years ago, and opened the Walloon location in 2024. Originally from the Boyne City–Petoskey area, she started Vilah Bloom as a business that sells diaper bags that dispense wet wipes, putting the company on the map with the help of B2B and B2C customers. She eventually evolved the company into a handbag and accessory brand, and sees the opportunity in the Detroit market.
“Detroit was on my list for opening a store and we were surprised when the space became available. It feels like the correct lateral move for our brand,” Garrett said.
Garrett said at the new location, guests will be able to choose different bag straps at their “Bag Bar.” The staff also have plans for Tigers-themes on the straps. Many of the same items from their other stores will be sold including charm jewelry, necklaces, earrings, bracelets and keychains.
The store is under construction on the west side of Farmer Street, close to Comerica Park where the Detroit Tigers play. The Aroma Labs perfume store is also at this stretch of stores. Restaurants on this side of the street Penny Red’s and The Brakeman beer hall.
Garrett said the space will be able to accommodate events such as bachelorette parties, graduation parties and corporate events. She will be providing opening updates for the community on the Vilah Bloom Instagram page.
