Applebee’s is planning to bring another eatery to the Greater Houston region. According to a recently filed permit, the new Applebee’s will open in the Copperfield area, just northwest of Houston, at 7250 Hwy 6 N.

The permit also details that construction will start next week and wrap up at the end of the month. If all goes well with the estimated $150,000 construction project, the new Applebee’s should be open by mid-Summer.

The Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation document also confirmed that the new Applebee’s will live in the former Fuddruckers.

“Interior remodel of a single-story existing restaurant, previously occupied by Fuddruckers,” the permit reads.

“Work includes construction of a new interior bar, interior paint/finish upgrades, exterior repaint to refresh facade, and the addition of an outdoor wood deck.”

At the helm of the opening is Nazarian Global Enterprises (NGEfranchisee Hnreck NazarianWhat Now Houston reached out to Nazarian, but did not hear back by the time of this publication.

“We foster loyalty, opportunity, and responsibility. We thrive on challenges and finding solutions that make the world better,” the NGE website reads.

“We do things differently. We create memorable experiences. We treat everyone with respect, like family.”

Applebee’s was founded by Bill and T.J. Palmer in Georgia as “T.J. Applebee’s RX for Edibles & Elixirs” in 1980. Originally conceived as a cozy, drugstore-themed neighborhood pub, the brand exploded into a global casual dining staple, evolving into the Applebee’s Neighborhood Grill + Bar that we all know today. Dine Brands acquired the international brand in 2007, bringing IHOP and Applebee’s under the same parent company. There are now a host of IHOP/Applebee’s locations, with a few even in Texas.

There are also now more than 1,500 Applebee’s locations around the world, with roughly 1,470 of those in the US. Texas is second in the country for the largest number of locations, with just under a hundred locations. The new Applebee’s set to come to HWY 6 will be a welcome addition to the Greater Houston region. There are fewer than five corporate-designated Applebee’s Grill + Bar locations operating within the Houston city limits.

What Now Houston also reached out to Dine Brands’ Jim Darby for more details about the expansion, but did not hear back by the time of this publication.

Known for its everyday comfort food, Applebee’s offers a host of affordable eats like skilletsbowls, burgerschicken, and so much more.

The new Applebee’s to come to the Greater Houston region is anticipated to open at 7250 Hwy 6 N by this summer.
