Himari, the popular Uchi-trained chef-driven sushi and Japanese-Vietnamese fusion restaurant, is embarking on opening a second location. According to a recently filed permit, Himari is expected to open in the Uptown/Tanglewood area at 6414 San Felipe Street, Suite A.
Construction on the new Himari is slated to start in July and wrap up in December. The $600,000 project is the renovation of an existing Bank of America building into a 4,511 square foot restaurant and future vacant office space.
Operated by Duckstache Hospitality, the restaurant features a casual, multi-level space known for high-quality sushi, robata, and creative, affordable, and fresh dishes.
What Now Houston briefly spoke with Himari’s Co-Founder & CFO, CJ Short, who confirmed the opening but was unable to share further details by the time of this publication.
Himari was founded by the Duckstache Hospitality group in 2023, opening at The Stomping Grounds in Garden Oaks. Led by Uchi-trained chefs, including the hospitality group’s Co-Founders and Head Chefs Patrick Pham and Daniel Lee, Himari has continued to grow its following for its fresh and delicious eats.
“We love Himari!” a review on the Himari website reads.
“They have a fantastic happy hour. We love everything, but especially the sushi sets, himari rainbow roll, shaggy dog roll, lychee martini, old fashioned, edamame, shishito peppers, and the Omakase!!!”
Duckstache Hospitality also runs Kokoro, Handies Duzo, Doko, and Aiko. This exciting new addition to their repertoire is set to land on San Felipe Street this year.
Himari is anticipated to open in the Uptown/Tanglewood area at 6414 San Felipe Street, Suite A, by winter.
