Sprouts Farmers Market is set to open its next Greater Houston region grocery store this fall. The new Sprouts is planned to open in the Panther Creek Village Center at 4775 W. Panther Creek Drive, a Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation permit shows. The Woodlands store is expected to hold a grand opening celebration on Sept. 11, according to the Houston Business Journal.

The permit further details that the estimated $3.461 million construction project is a tenant improvement of an existing building space that was formerly Randalls. According to the permit, which was filed last March, the opening was a long time coming.

What Now Houston reached out to Sprouts’ media team, who shared details about the upcoming opening.

“True to its farm-stand heritage, Sprouts offers a unique grocery experience featuring an open layout with fresh produce at the heart of the store,” The Woodlands Sprouts’ store website reads.

“Sprouts inspires wellness naturally with a carefully curated assortment of better-for-you products paired with purpose-driven people. Sprouts continues to bring the latest in wholesome, innovative products made with lifestyle-friendly ingredients such as organic, plant-based, and gluten-free.”

Sprouts Farmers Market was founded in 2002 in Chandler, Arizona, by members of the Boney family, who have a deep history in the grocery business dating back to 1943. Henry Boney opened his first fruit stand in San Diego, California, in 1943. This small produce stand eventually grew into a beloved local chain named Henry’s Farmers Market. After the family sold Henry’s in the late 1990s, Henry’s son and grandson, Stan and Shon Boney, launched Sprouts to continue the family tradition of providing farm-fresh produce and healthy foods at affordable prices. The company successfully hit the Nasdaq in 2013.

Today, the brand is headquartered in Phoenix, Arizona, and operates on a smaller-store blueprint that puts fresh produce in the center of the store. There are now more than 480 Sprouts stores across 25 U.S. states, with 68 grocery stores in Texas. The Greater Houston region currently has eight, with The Woodlands location on deck to become its ninth.

The new Sprouts set to open in The Woodlands is already working on hiring. The healthy grocer will hold an in-person hiring event at the Hyatt Place Houston The Woodlands, at 1909 Research Forest Drive, at the end of July. Find out more details here.
