Popular family-owned Atlantic Beach bistro AB Kitchen will shutter its operations next month. After just five years of operation, the restaurant and bistro is closing as the owners decide not to renew its lease.
AB Kitchen Bids Farewell to Atlantic Beach
Operated under the parent company, Southern Table Hospitality, the bistro is a modern coastal diner. It focuses on locally sourced fresh ingredients and innovative dishes. The restaurant is well-known for its warm and beachy vibes and flavorful menu.
Popular items on the menu include snow crab cake, crab fried rice, and coconut curry. In addition to its vibrant menu, the restaurant also offers a curated bar program featuring craft cocktails and wine options.
In a social media post, the restaurant owners, Ben and Liza Groshell, stated that AB Kitchen, located at 299-2 Atlantic Boulevard in Atlantic Beach, will serve its final meal on November 16.
The owners thanked the community for their support over the years and said, “From familiar faces to first-time visitors, you’ve made our time here something truly special.”
The closure announcement post on social media drew lots of attention. One customer commented, “Super bummed. I love AB Kitchen… the vibe, food, and staff are terrific. Best wishes to you all.”

What Led to the Closure
In the post, the owners explained that the restaurant lease is expiring soon and they have decided not to renew it.
They wrote, “As we look ahead to exciting new projects, we’ve made the decision not to renew our lease and focus on the next chapter of Southern Table Hospitality.”
The owners further assured that the staff of AB Kitchen will be given opportunities to work at their other locations. Apart from AB Kitchen, the Southern Table Hospitality group also operates multiple restaurants, including Julington Creek Fish Camp, North Beach Fish Camp, Valley Smoke, St. Augustine Fish Camp, and several others.
As AB Kitchen winds down, the owners encouraged the Atlantic Beach community to visit the restaurant.
