St. Augustine will soon be learning to “Crave Thy Castle,” as plans show the city will be home to the first White Castle location in Northeast Florida. According to coverage by News4Jax, a new White Castle has been proposed for “an outparcel in a Walmart Supercenter under construction at World Commerce Center of International Golf Parkway and Florida 16.”
The Walmart Supercenter in question will be located at 3405 International Golf Pkwy. Making its home nearby, White Castle will open in a 2754-square-foot space, featuring an 270 square feet of outdoor seating and a two-lane drive thru.
White Castle is a concept more than a century old. Founded by Billy Ingram in 1921, selling five-cent small burgers called Sliders, White Castle, with its storied past, saw Time name its Original Slider the most influential burger of all time.
“Today our family-owned business sells the same humble, 100 percent USDA beef patty with onions and pickle, creating memorable moments for Craver generations everywhere,” says the White Castle website. “The only thing better than polishing off a Sack of Sliders alone, is doing it with friends. Could it get any better than that? White Castle. Because The Crave Is A Powerful Thing®.”
In addition, to its beloved sliders, White Castle is always keeping things interesting with new menu additions. Currently featured items include the Jalapeño Cravioli (Diced Jalapeño peppers and cream cheese stuffed inside a crispy, seasoned cornmeal breading. Served with green chili aioli dipping sauce) and the Chicken Fajita Slider (Crispy, all white meat Chicken topped with grilled onions and peppers, jalapeno cheese and green chili aioli).
