This fall, partners Fitz Pullins and Steve Williams are transforming a Springfield warehouse space into a new hub for design and creativity.

“The couple believes Jacksonville deserves a place in the same cultural conversation as Charleston and St. Augustine, and they’re putting their money where their vision is with a nearly half-million-dollar investment in the city’s oldest residential neighborhood,” said coverage by the Jacksonville Business Journal.

Florida Mining shared the article in a post on its Instagram page, giving a sneak preview of “the new home of Florida Mining, Fitz Pullins Interiors, The Inventory Room, and Steve Williams Studio.”

“We’re aiming for late fall,” Fitz Pullins told What Now in a phone conversation this week. For Pullins, the project represents a milestone in a creative career. “I’ve spent my career in creative fields: fashion, style, interior design. And now we’re bringing it together, all under one roof.”

Florida Mining has been around for about 16 years, Pullins says; it’s a longstanding concept whose gallery space will add to the overall sense of an artistic salon atmosphere.

“I just want to be part of a creative hub for people to come and get inspired,” Pullins said.

Meanwhile, Fitz Pullins Interiors will serve as the base for Pullins design work, as Steve Williams Studio will also for Williams’ work. Finally, there’s the retail component: the Inventory Room, which Pullins describes as “all about creating beautiful experiences and helping people find what they’re missing.”

No official opening date has been announced, but this new project is working toward the goal of an October launch.

“We’re super excited to be part of this creative community,” Pullin said. “The creative energy is really starting to boom in the area; and we’re happy to be a part of what’s coming to Springfield, to do something that can contribute positively to the neighborhood. Something that reflects the creativity that’s already thriving here.”
