A brand new restaurant, The Giddy Ostrich Kitchen and Brewery, is preparing to debut in South Pasadena at 915 and 921 Meridian Ave, Unit B.
The new restaurant and brewery, The Giddy Ostrich, is set to move into the former home of Nicole’s Market & Cafe and the Arroyo Outdoor patio. The business will span over 10,000 square feet of combined indoor and outdoor space. The main operations team includes executive chef and head of operations James Boyle and brewmaster brothers Evan and Anders McCarthy, who lead brewing. Kristin Boyle is the lead designer on the project, and Thivantha “T” Kurera oversees community relations. The team introduced the concept with a temporary pop-up at the South Pasadena Eclectic Music Festival & Arts Crawl on April 26.
The Giddy Ostrich will operate as a full brewery and restaurant, producing eight house-made beers and two rotating guest taps. The drink menu will also include a selection of wine and cocktails. The kitchen will offer American fare with kid-friendly options, with all dishes made to order. The ownership team recently submitted a liquor license application for the location. Despite the early application for a liquor license, Boyle tells What Now Los Angeles that this concept will hopefully open by the end of the year, if not early next year.
This will be an excellent location for The Giddy Ostrich, mainly due to the steady foot traffic and strong neighborhood presence in this part of South Pasadena. Nearby businesses, schools, and frequent community events contribute to a lively and consistent customer base. With its large indoor-outdoor footprint and broad menu, the restaurant and brewery is well-positioned to appeal to families, professionals, and craft beer fans alike. Its proximity to popular spots makes it a natural fit for the neighborhood.
