Or rather, upgrade your champagne night to Margarita Monday without the hassle of shakers, strainers, muddlers, and whatchamacallits? NIO Cocktails makes it easy, offering expertly crafted cocktails in chic packaging. All you need to do is add ice.
The NIO (needs ice only) Cocktails website showcases its eclectic menu, ranging from the classic cosmopolitan to the more elusive boulevardier. Pseudo-mixologists are able to build their own boxes of three, six or nine different cocktails of their own liking. The individualized cocktails are stored in a sleek box that is delivered directly to your doorstep. To dazzle your friends and taste buds, simply shake, tear, and pour over ice.
Although currently available only in the UK and Italy, NIO Cocktails plans to make its U.S. debut in San Pedro. The 650-sq. ft. retail storefront, which has been vacant for the past year, will offer seventeen prepackaged cocktails for retail and online purchases in California. Its location at 257 W 7th Street is less than two blocks from the harbor and will certainly create a buzz in the San Pedro community.
The retail store plans to staff locally and operate from noon to 9pm Monday through Saturday to satisfy your Margarita Mondays, Hump Days, Friyays, and in-betweens.
Edge Americas Online, the company behind NIO Cocktails, is currently requesting the support of the Planning and Land Use Committee to follow through with its plans. Jeffrey Whalen, who is listed as the applicant, on Tuesday did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
Although no official date has been announced, NIO Cocktails hopes to open its shop by this September.
