Kat’s Sourdough and Juice Bar began in 2023 when Kathleen Sawyer made her first post on a Germantown bulletin board advertising her homemade bread, and it “blew up,” she tells What Now Memphis

Over time, she expanded her kitchen at her home, even adding a commercial oven in her garage.

“It just got to the point where we were outgrowing that, so then it was looking at, am I gonna start doing construction at my house or are we going to try to roll with a brick and mortar?” Sawyer said.

Now, Sawyer will celebrate its official grand opening at 9379 Poplar Avenue in Germantown on May 3, 2025, in a space that was previously occupied by Clean Juice. Sawyer described the location as a small café setting that will have couches for seating.

Sawyer will sell a variety of sourdough breads, including cinnamon rolls and bagels, as well as offer smoothies, sandwiches and cold-pressed juices.
