A popular Memphis chain has plans to expand its empire and to welcome even more Tennessee diners to enjoy its delicious and authentic fare. Cocina Mexican Bar & Grill has filed papers for a new Lakeland location, allowing a new audience to sink its teeth into the concept’s cuisine.
Cocina Mexican Bar & Grill will be opening its Lakeland storefront at 9020 U.S. 64 in the space that previously housed Blossom Asian Cuisine Buffet. Paperwork filed with the Memphis and Shelby County Division of Planning and Development shows that the restaurant will be occupying a 4,141 square foot storefront with an occupant load of 99.
Owner Marco Puerto was kind enough to speak to What Now Memphis about launching this latest endeavor-one he assures locals they won’t have to wait much longer to enjoy. He hopes to have Cocina Mexican Bar & Grill open to Lakeland diners on Monday, October 5.
“It’s a good location.” he explains, stating that he had been looking for a Lakeland spot when the storefront became available. While this new space will be larger than his other Cocina storefronts, he states it will be “Pretty much the same as other locations. We’ll operate as catering. We have more room here for private parties-biggest location so far.”
The menu which earned Cocina Mexican Bar & Grill the title of the Memphis Restaurant Association’s Restaurant of the Year in 2024 will remain unchanged, news certain to delight area foodies.
