With locations in Charleston, Nashville, and Charlotte, Church and Union is planning a new outpost in Miami Beach. Charleston-based hospitality group 5th Street Group recently announced the new Church and Union location, which is expected to open at 745 Collins Avenue in late 2024.

“Collins Avenue, the Art Deco District, and South Beach as a whole represent an iconic piece of American culture,” 5th Street Group CEO Patrick Whalen said in the press release. “It’s an area saturated by history, cutting edge design and top flight hospitality. It would be an understatement to say that we at the 5th Street Group are excited to have the opportunity to bring Church and Union to Miami Beach; hopefully having a part in leading the next of wave of compelling, inspiring hospitality in SOBE,” says Patrick Whalen.

Church and Union will open in a three-story, 10,000 square-foot-space designed by architects Schulman and Associates and Build McKenzie. It will offer seating for 200 guests, including a bar and lounge area and a private dining room.

What Now reached out to Patrick Whalen on Monday to inquire about Church and Union Miami Beach, particularly curious—as always—about what’s on the menu. Whalen said the menu is still under development but will focus on locally sourced ingredients—with lots of seafood, of course.

“We always want to source things locally,” Whalen said. “We don’t like cookie-cutter. We’re taking trips now to meet with local purveyors.”

Are there plans for any other restaurants here in South Florida? What Now asked.

“I’ll say this,” Whalen said. “In every other city we’ve gone to, we’ve opened multiple concepts. For now, we’re just excited about South Beach and looking forward to being part of the community.”
