More than two years ago, What Now reported on the news that Colombian coffee brand Juan Valdez had plans to launch a new cafe in Miami Springs. Soon, more news began to roll out, and more locations revealed—in Doral and in Sunrise’s Sawgrass Mills Mall for example. Now, the wheels finally appear to be in motion on these restaurants, which will now be corporate-owned.

The expansive push the company is undertaking is considerable: “The company aims to continue attracting local consumers,” said a press release put out earlier this month. “To achieve this, it plans to end the year with 16 strategically located stores in key cities such as Miami and Orlando, further solidifying its position in one of the world’s largest and most dynamic coffee markets.”

As as an opening approaches for these three locations, yet another is in the works in Coconut Grove. It’s opening at 3390 Mary Street this October, a representative told What Now earlier this month.

“The United States represents immense market potential for us, not only because of its high number of coffee consumers but also due to the growing trends in consumption that emphasize innovation, experience, and sustainability factors that are essential to us, Sebastián Mejía, Vice President of International Business at Juan Valdez, said in the press release. “At Juan Valdez, we offer a unique value proposition, featuring 100% premium Colombian coffee, an unparalleled in-store experience, a diversified product portfolio, and more attributes highly appreciated by coffee lovers.”

The Coconut Grove location is situated near CocoWalk, as Juan Valdez prepares to join a thriving restaurant community that includes restaurants Bombay Darbar and Omakai Sushi.
