Sweet Melody Ice Cream is continuing its South Florida expansion with a new location coming to 10141 W. Flagler Street in Miami.
The family-owned ice cream company will bring its handcrafted frozen treats to the Fontainebleau area, where guests can choose flavors by the scoop, pints to go, hand-spun milkshakes, sundaes and the brand’s signature fresh waffle cones.
Founder Mike Romeu noted on Instagram that the shop is experiencing some delays. In an Instagram post, Romeu noted, ” We don’t want to keep announcing dates we cannot guarantee, so for now, our promise is simply this: we are still fighting for this location, every single day. The delays have also created a much heavier financial burden than we ever anticipated. We’re exploring every possible way to get Flagler across the finish line—including the possibility of a Kickstarter style/community-supported presale, should it become necessary. Nothing has been decided yet, but as always, we want to be honest about where things stand.”
Romeu named his company after daughter Melody, and started selling handcrafted ice cream with a goal to create premium, small-batch ice cream while building a business centered on family, creativity, and community.
Today, Sweet Melody is known for imaginative flavors such as Kooki Monster, Abuela’s Flan, and Cookie Buttah, along with hand-spun milkshakes, sundaes and take-home pints. The company has built a loyal following by producing its ice cream in small batches using premium ingredients and rotating seasonal flavors.
