A Dick’s House of Sport is poised to become the newest anchor at The Gardens Mall, located at 3101 PGA Boulevard in Palm Beach Gardens.
The new mega sporting goods store is proposed to replace the former Sears with an immersive retail experience that blends shopping with interactive athletic attractions. Plans submitted to the City of Palm Beach Gardens call for a 140,000-square-foot Dick’s House of Sport, an 18,500-square-foot outdoor sports field, and more than 52,000 square feet of additional mall retail space as part of the redevelopment. Plans also include relocating furniture retailer Arhaus into newly created mall space and expanding the property’s overall retail footprint.
Founded in 1948 by Richard “Dick” Stack in Binghamton, New York, Dick’s Sporting Goods has grown into one of the nation’s largest sporting goods retailers, operating more than 850 stores across the United States. The company’s House of Sport format takes the traditional sporting goods store a step further, offering customers opportunities to test equipment and participate in activities through features such as climbing walls, batting cages, golf simulators, outdoor playing fields and other interactive experiences.
