West Elm is bringing its modern home furnishings and contemporary design aesthetic to Pembroke Pines, taking over the former Barnes & Noble space at Pembroke Gardens shopping center, located at 14572 SW Fifth Street. The furniture store will share the space with Pottery Barn. A quick trip to the shopping center finds signage up at the location.

The bookseller closed in January after more than 17 years at the shopping center. The Pembroke Gardens website lists West Elm as “coming soon“.  West Elm is best known for its affordable yet classic items that cater to a clean, Midcentury Modern aesthetic. The company focuses less on trends and more on furniture that can last years of use.

Founded in Brooklyn in 2002, West Elm is a subsidiary of Williams-Sonoma Inc., the San Francisco-based home furnishings company that also owns Pottery Barn, Williams Sonoma and several other retail brands. The company operates more than 100 West Elm stores across North America and internationally, with locations spanning the United States, Canada, Mexico, the United Kingdom, Australia, India and the Middle East.

The addition of West Elm is part of a broader retail expansion underway at Pembroke Gardens, which is welcoming several new tenants in 2026.
