Roman Savon, a new retro-themed bar inspired by 1990s soap operas, is planned to open in Montreal at 5800 Rue de la Roche.
The project is backed by the team behind Snowbird Tiki Bar and Spaghetti Western, with Anthoni Jodoin leading the new concept, according to Silo57. The opening is expected during the back-to-school season, with a target of September or early October 2026. Customers can expect a nostalgic bar experience featuring cocktails, wine on tap, shrimp cocktails, a vintage-style photo booth, and contemporary jazz music.
Roman Savon takes inspiration from the French term for soap operas, “romans savons,” and the popular television dramas of the 1990s, including Les Feux de l’amour and Top Modèles. The concept will also draw from shows such as The Young and the Restless, Days of Our Lives, and The Bold and the Beautiful, bringing together elements of the era’s entertainment culture.
The new venue will mark the sixth project from Jodoin, who is also behind several Montreal hospitality concepts, including Snowbird Tiki Bar, Spaghetti Western, Taverne Cobra, Wünderbar, and One Punch Mickey’s. Each concept has introduced a different theme and style to Montreal’s bar scene.
The menu and beverage program at Roman Savon will focus on classic bar offerings with a nostalgic approach. Announced selections include cosmopolitans, referred to as “cosmos,” martinis, and wine on tap, along with shrimp cocktails and other offerings that fit the concept’s 1990s inspiration.
This will be an excellent landing space for Roman Savon, adding another themed hospitality concept to Montreal’s dining and nightlife scene. The venue is expected to open in fall 2026, with more details about the space and full offerings to be announced closer to the opening.
“We’re excited to unveil our next project: Roman Savon,” according to a recent announcement. “A gathering place inspired by the iconic soap operas of the ’90s, like The Young and the Restless, Days of Our Lives, and The Bold and the Beautiful.
