Acclaimed chef Sophina Uong is planning to open Little Miss Mao this March inside the upcoming bar Skinny Dennis at 2635 Gallatin Pike.
Uong has partnered with the Skinny Dennis team to bring a food menu to the new spot to complement Skinny Dennis’s beverage lineup.
In a phone call in January, Skinny Dennis co-owner Zephaniah O’Hora shared with What Now Nashville that the team was preparing the space for opening.
Little Miss Mao is a spin-off of Uong’s Mister Mao in New Orleans, which opened its doors in 2021. Like Mister Mao, Little Miss Mao will place an emphasis on unique, globally-inspired flavors.
“Mister Mao is a tropical roadhouse,” the Mister Mao website states. “We’re quirky, eclectic and unapologetically inauthentic, serving up locally sourced, global flavors through refined small plates. Come as you are and with an open mind.”
Menu items at Mister Mao include Khmer shrimp with almond, coconut, sunchoke, chile, rice powder and garlic oil; Pani Puri with turmeric potato masala, pomegranate, tamarind chutney, and mint water; and Kashmiri fried chicken with cumin and black salt lime cream.
